Indian culture has a long tradition of celebrations. Truth be told, India is a country of celebrations. There is no month in the year in which there is no celebration. Our ancestors had very well planned how to live a happy life amidst the deteriorating conditions of society.
The word Utsav is made by combining Kuch and Sav. Its meaning is Surya, Chandra, Yagya, Tarpan, etc. If a prefix is placed before a word, it brings some speciality in its meaning. The word before which it comes, its meaning becomes better, higher, in the sense of progress, sometimes it gives the reverse and also creates a feeling of indebtedness, but when it comes in the sense of Utsav, it conveys the meaning of attaining bliss, it conveys the meaning of enthusiasm. In this way we can say that the brightness of the Sun, the coolness of the Moon, the lighting of the Yagya, Srilata and dedication like Tarpan are manifested in the Utsav. When we meet each other in the Utsav, there is a new enthusiasm and we remember old things and resolve for new things. In this sense, Raksha Bandhan festival is also a very important festival of our country.
Rakshabandhan has two words, Raksha and Bandhan, that is, the feeling of a bond with a resolve to protect is fascinated by the word Rakshabandhan. It is also known as Shravani Purnima. When is the full moon of Shravan month? The festival is celebrated every year. In this, the sister ties a Raksha Sutra on the brother’s hand and the brother resolves to protect the sister, no matter what kind of leaf, but I will stand with you, such is the feeling in the brother’s mind. Today, in general, the meaning of Rakshabandhan is getting limited to brother and sister, but it is very wide. It is a bond of mutual cooperation between husband and wife. It is a bond with a resolve of a person to protect his family, his society, his nation. The feeling of protecting his culture by the guardian, the feeling of protecting his elderly parents by the saint is included in the meaning of Rakshabandhan. There are many stories about Rakshabandhan in Indian culture. One story is popular, which is found in religious texts.
